Hello my Gerrys and welcome to my channel. Today, I present to you a slightly different format. I want to share a story with you. As you know, a few days ago on Instagram I asked my community what video they would like to see next. After a survey, the theme chosen was company takeover. So, I'm going to share a little bit of my story with you to give you more context.
I started in shoemaking at the age of 16 with an agreement for an internal buyout which ultimately didn't work out. It's okay, we learn from these experiences. After returning to the workforce, the desire to own my own business was still present. I competently took the steps to STW, a course subsidized by the province of Quebec, which provided me with essential tools for running a business, from bookkeeping to marketing.
Going into business, whether it's a startup or buying a company, comes with challenges, and this course really helped me gain the necessary knowledge. I started with the idea of a startup, but my professor, Philippe Bonin, advised me to instead consider buying Jerry's old company. After various attempts and twists and turns, I finally acquired the business in December 2019.
The first year was difficult, especially with the arrival of the pandemic in March 2020. 100% dependent on a walk-in service, without a transactional platform at the time, I had to face challenges. However, with hindsight and adjustments, I managed to get through this difficult period. Resilience and experience have built my character.
Today, I am in my 5th year, and despite the obstacles, I am extremely satisfied with having made this choice. Life is full of risks, but sometimes it is necessary to achieve your goals. I hope this story inspires those of you who are considering starting a business or personal project. Feel free to share your experiences in the comments. Please follow my channel, like, comment and share. Your feedback is valuable, and together we can provide the best content and service possible. Until the next video, stay tuned!
